Search committee members for the next WKU Chief of Police are eliciting input from the campus community to determine the attributes, competencies, knowledge-base, skill-set, and disposition desired in this crucial role. To that end, you are cordially invited to participate in one of two, 60 minute, open meetings. 

The Department of Counseling Student Affairs will be hosting one-hour Information Sessions February 1, Wednesday 4 to 5 pm GRH 2008 for anyone interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling; School Counseling; and Student Affairs. Faculty and students from the Department will be available in an informal setting to share information and answer questions about our programs. Accepting applications for Fall Admission until March 15^th.

The Alice Rowe Learning Assistance Center (LAC) will be open several Saturdays for free tutoring and student support services. 

The center is located at WKU South Campus in room 234.  The LAC provides free tutoring in Math, English, Chemistry and other topics.  This is a walk-in service.  No appointment needed. We have an open computer lab and a quiet study area as well.

A space archaeologist whose recent TED Talk earned her the 2016 TED Prize, uses satellite images to discover ancient sites that had previously disappeared. Her TED bio recalls that Parcak is in many ways “like a modern-day Indiana Jones,” as she moves forward in finding and identifying unique surfaces from an aerial perspective.

Southwest Hall will be the honors upperclassman residence hall for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Additionally, McLean and Bates Runner hall will become general population, upperclassmen students and Bates will be our extended living hall.

The room selection process for Southwest Hall residents to renew to Bates Runner or McLean hall will be February 16 through February 17.  These days are set aside only for you – so that you can get first choice of rooms in those halls for next year. 

We will be offering tours and information sessions at Bates Runner and McLean Halls.

You are encouraged to renew to Bates Runner or McLean hall; but if you desire to try for another building campus, please follow your date on the schedule, as assigned for your student classification.

Friday with F.R.I.E.N.D.S. (Finding Respect in Everyone's Natural Differences and Similarities) is a Compassion Hour to create a space for compassion as well as an opportunity to connect and reaffirm our humanness, provide support, and receive affirmation. 

This event is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs Social Justice Working Group, the Counseling & Testing Center, and the Chief Diversity Officer. This is intended to be an ongoing series and opportunity for the university community to gather, affirm one another, and reconnect.

In honor of International Stand Up To Bullying Day, the WKU Counseling & Testing Center will offer two Safe Zone trainings this Friday (02/24/17) from 10:00—12:00 & 2:00—4:00 in Potter Hall 408.  The purpose of Safe Zone trainings is to reduce homophobia and heterosexism by training community members to serve as resources for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual/Ally (LGBTQIA) community.  The overall mission of this project is to raise awareness of LGBTQIA issues and pledge a commitment to fostering an environment that is devoid of discrimination based on sexual orientation, sexual identity, or gender identity.
