*Extended Living Halls (Hilltopper, Northeast, & Rodes) remain open through winter break.

For important and specific instructions, please choose the situation that applies to you:

Before you leave, please do the following:

    1. Defrost and unplug your refrigerator.

      • Prop the fridge door open to prevent mold and mildew build-up.

      • Make sure the refrigerator is clean and dry.

      • Place a towel under the fridge to absorb any excess water as it defrosts.

    2. Unplug all electrical equipment including computers, aquariums (take fish home) , stereos, televisions, etc.

    3. Ensure that all items are moved away from the heating unit so the filter can be changed.

    4. Remove belongings from the closet floor. This prepares the room to be sprayed for pests. If you have a wardrobe, you do not have to remove your belongings.

    5. Wash all dirty dishes

    6. Throw away all trash and clean out the trash can. Take all trash to compactor or outside dumpster. Activate the compactor with your room key.

    7. Set room temperature to 65 degrees and the fan speed to auto - OR - at halfway between blue and red with the fan speed on low, depending on what type of thermostat you have.

    8. Close and lock windows. Turn lights off and lock your room.

    9. Check your mailbox as you leave.

    10. Sign out at the desk.

You do NOT need to remove all of your belongings from your room during winter break.
