The 11th Distinguished Lecturer is Dr. John M. Ruter.  His lecture is "A Survey of Conifers for Southern Gardens". Dr. John M. Ruter  is the Allan M. Armitage Endowed Professor of Horticulture at The University of Georgia and serves as Director of the Trial Garden at UGA.  

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Ever considered leading a study abroad program in Costa Rica?  

Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is a privately-owned destination that has been home to The Gatton Academy's annual Faculty-led Study Abroad (FLSA) program in Costa Rica since 2011.  

Reserve manager Tom Gode and reserve artist-in-residence Linda Moskalyk will present on how you can start your own WKU FLSA at Cloudbridge.  

Cloudbridge is an ideal study abroad destination for a range of inter-disciplinary courses.  The reserve features on-site housing and can provide meals for up to 20 people at a time.

The summer hall (Rodes Harlin Hall) opens for summer school students to begin moving in.

All residence halls close. Everyone must be completely moved and checked out of their spring assignment unless they are registered for summer school housing. 

WKU Owensboro will host a commencement ceremony at 6:30 p.m. May 16 at the RiverPark Center, 101 Daviess St., Owensboro. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Dennis George, Associate Provost for Regional Higher Education. Student speaker will be Jennifer Bowlds of Utica who is receiving a Master of Social Work degree. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Work at WKU Owensboro in summer 2015.

WKU Elizabethtown/Fort Knox will host a commencement ceremony at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern time) May 16 at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center, 384 W. Jenkins Road, Elizabethtown. Student speaker will be May graduate Shameka A. Hardin of Rineyville, who is receiving a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.

Summer Housing

Fee Payment

In order to maintain summer residency, regular payments are due throughout the summer according to the following due dates:

• May 27, 2016
• June 24, 2016
• July 22, 2016
• August 5, 2016

Failure to make a payment on the assigned dates may result in termination of the agreement and the student will have 48 hours to check out of the residence hall unless prior approval is granted by the Department of Housing & Residence Life. A hold will be placed on the student's University account for failure to pay, which will prevent them from being able to register, drop/add classes, or receive transcripts until the fee is paid in full.

You can make a payment by:

• Coming to the Housing & Residence Life office located in 18 Southwest Hall from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday during the month of May 16 - June 3.  From June 6 - August 12, office hours are 7:30am - 4pm, Monday through Thursday and 7:30 - 12:30 on Fridays.
• Calling our office at (270) 745-3143 and making a payment with a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Diners Club
• Mailing a check or money order to our office at:
