Mental Well-being

According to a 2019 study by the American College Health Association, 87% of college students felt overwhelmed by all they had to do, 66% felt overwhelming anxiety, 56% felt things were hopeless, and 13% seriously considered suicide. While WKU offers mental health counseling services, HEP is a great resource for students to have facilitated discussions surrounding mental health and learn more about ways to improve their mental well-being.

This presentation will meet the following objectives:

  • Students will be able to accurately define mental health and mental well-being.
  • Students will be able to describe how mental health problems negatively impact college students.
  • Students will be able to list methods that can be used to help improve mental health and well-being.
  • Students will be able to recognize symptoms of common mental health disorders in themselves and others.
  • Students will be able to locate resources on campus that can help with mental health problems.
