Instructional Fitness Programs


The Health & Fitness Lab offers a diverse group of specialized instructional courses throughout the year. If you would like to become a fitness professional, we offer workshops in group exercise and personal training to get you on your way. Periodically, we host national certification workshops such as YogaFit or Zumba. We also put on special events, competitions and fitness programs like Group Functional Training to keep you in great shape.

 

This program is all about teaching women that weights are not just for the men! Learn the fundamentals of safe and effective strength training from a certified personal trainer. Class size is limited to 8 participants to ensure a high level of individual attention.

To register, call (270)745-6531, stop by the Health & Fitness Lab located in the Preston Center Room 20a, or Register ONLINE:

  1. Click https://online.spectrumng.net/wku/
  2. Scroll ALL THE WAY DOWN and Click “Do not have a login?” at the bottom of the login screen
  3. Member Number = Your WKU ID (800#)
  4. Create a username and password
  5. You will now use that login every time you login with us!
  6. Once logged in, click on "Program Registration".
  7. Select "Fitness Programs".
  8. Select "view Programs" under Women & Weights.
  9. Select "Add to Cart", continue to pay and checkout as normal.

This group has 2 scheduled workouts a week, dedicated to improving all of the components of health fitness. Improve your total body fitness through exercises that use all of your muscles while performing movements essential to everyday life. Improve your quality of life, athletic performance, or just to blow off stress in a team environment.

This workshop is an on-line course designed to prepare you to for the ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification exam. If you enjoy exercise and teaching others how to become fit, you could start being paid for it!

Includes:

  • Guidance from experienced instructors

  • Blended classroom instruction & practical skills

  • Discounted text and exam voucher

This martial art style uses your body position, skill and technique in order to fight off potentially larger and stronger opponents. This 8 week class gives you physical training, skill training, and practice to improve your health and personal safety.

Includes:

  • Small group training from an experienced instructor

  • New techniques weekly

  • Practice time to master new skills
