Assistant Director of Programming
The Assistant Director of Programming will be responsible for providing leadership
in developing and implementing programming for The Center for Gifted Studies. Additionally,
the position serves as editor for The Challenge magazine and provides proofreading and editing support for The Center's blog and
other materials disseminated through The Center for Gifted Studies. This position
will be in-person on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.
Coordinator of Residence Life
The Coordinator of Residence Life for The Center for Gifted Studies will be responsible
for providing leadership for the residential counselors during the Summer Program
for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) and the Summer Program for
Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth (VAMPY).
Camp Counselor
Summer counselor candidates are responsible for the day-to-day supervision, guidance,
and safety of our campers. The counselor will work from June 4 to July 12. Pay is
$500 a week for new counselors and $600 per week for returning counselors.
Photography Intern
The Center for Gifted Studies at WKU seeks an experienced Photography Intern for a
summer position. Dates of employment run roughly from June 7 to July 17, 2026. This
position will entail evening and weekend work and up to 40 hours per week. The intern
will focus on capturing our many summer camps for gifted youth as well as one week
of high school AP teachers. Applicants should be comfortable using a DSLR camera,
editing in Adobe Lightroom, and walking around campus in warmer temperatures.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will support expanding the research conducted through
The Center for Gifted Studies and The Gatton Academy. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow
will collaborate with personnel in both units to develop and execute research projects
and agendas. Key responsibilities will also include wrangling and analyzing data,
collaborating on grant writing, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Continuation
is dependent upon funding/need.
