Field Placement Agencies

  • Local social service agencies across the state of Kentucky and surrounding states are crucial in providing internship placements for WKU BSW and MSW students. Before completing the BSW or MSW Practicum Application, students should not only have an idea of what areas and populations they want to serve, but are also encouraged to provide specific agencies that interest them.

Types of Agency Information Provided

Intern Job Description buttons provide students with an alphabetized list of intern job descriptions provided directly from the agency. These job descriptions may also indicate whether a position is paid or unpaid or are for BSW or MSW students. Additional agencies that have previously partnered with the WKU Field Program are bulleted and linked to agency webpage for more information.

Helpful Tips

  • Use process of elimination. Ex. Student starts with desired region, then desired population or service area, then desired agency.
  • Use "Search & Find" tool. Search Agency Job Description documents or agency webpages with key phrases/words by clicking CTRL + F or COMMAND + F in order to narrow your search. If you're unsure what words to search by, begin filling out the Practicum Applicaiton to find suggestions.
  • Find New Agencies. New community agencies are always being created. If you have a specific agency in mind that is not listed, or come across one in your research, include it on your Practicum Application to be discussed with the Field Director.
