1) The Circle of Creativity: Connecting Art, Music, and Storytelling – Amy Wallace


Calling all artistic minds to join the circle of creativity! Do you listen to your favorite song and see pictures in your head? Do you see an image and hear music that fits perfectly? Be inspired by deaf artist Chuck Baird, who paints music he cannot hear; think abstractly like Kandinsky, who painted musical imagination; and more! Experience the cycle of creating art and music guided by cultural stories and creating stories shaped by influential music and art.
 
2) The Mathematics of Art- Carolyn Byrd
There is not always an obvious connection between art and mathematics.  However, there is much symmetry, geometry, and measurement involved in creating beautiful art.  For example, many artists take advantage of the Golden Ratio to make their art beautiful and realistic.  Explore math in a whole new way!  Analyze and create art for various purposes using mathematical principles.
 
3) Create Your Own Retro Arcade Game - Cailee Marcus
Do you love playing games on your phone or your favorite console? Have you ever thought about building your own game? Well, now you can! In this class, we are going to use Microsoft MakeCode Arcade to create our own retro arcade games. Inexperienced with coding? Don’t worry, you’ll learn to use block coding or javascript. Experienced coder? Great, you can use your skills to take our retro arcade games to new creative heights. I am excited to see you there, let’s play!
 
4) Filmmaking Workshop - Abby Siemen

Filmmaking combines our love of stories with collaboration, imagination, action, and visuals. In this course, we’ll explore how films effectively tell memorable and powerful stories, in both their writing and technical aspects, and then use these models to compose original scripts and storyboards that will lead to the creation of an original short film. Students taking this course won’t just get to see how films tell stories, but create their own story in this powerful visual medium.
 
5) Forensic Science – Angela Thompson

Do you love the thrill of a good mystery?  Do you have the skills it takes to solve a crime?  Join our CSI team to learn forensic techniques, become an expert in CSI skills, invent crime solving techniques for the future, and explore various job roles in the field.
 
6) Genius Hour: Where Your Passion Comes to Life! Corbyn Goff
What is your passion? Passion drives the decisions that we make in life and the things that we do. Someone had a passion when they invented video games, make-up, clothes, sport equipment and more! We will learn about famous inventors and their passions for creativity. Through finding your passion and building upon it through research and creativity, the next invention may come from you! If you want to learn more about your favorite topic or invent something new, genius hour is for you!
 
7) Greek Life! Bethany Heming
It's time to explore the world of Greek Mythology! From creating a family tree of the gods to the investigation of a god of your choice, this class will not disappoint! We will inspect several creation myths and discuss the impact on our world today. Of course, we will save time to learn about the Titans, Cyclops and many of your favorite heroes. 
 
8) Human Anatomy: “Your Body’s Lifelines” - Ruth Osborne

A lifeline is something that one is dependent upon. How much do you know about yours? Your body’s lifelines consist of the heart and lungs. These structures deliver blood to your body’s tissues and other vital organs. Together, in this session we’ll investigate these structures and their functions. Topics covered will include the anatomy and role of each system and the impact of disease on these systems. Through these investigations, which will include a virtual frog dissection, you will develop an understanding of the relationship between the heart and lungs and their role in the complex system of the human body.
 
9) I Survived – Sam Northern

What do plankton, monkeys, flowers, penguins, and humans all have in common? They use mechanisms to survive! In this class, you will learn how the most extraordinary people and remarkable animals survive extreme conditions. We will examine the internal and external factors that play an important role in how one survives. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own survival scenarios. We hope to see you in class. Your survival kit awaits!
 
10) Top Secret! The Art and Science of Secret Codes – Amy Jeziorski

Attention all secret agents! Your mission is to send and receive secret messages from your friends. Learn how to crack top secret files and encrypt messages so others can't intercept them. Explore different types of ciphers, ancient to modern day, and create amazing secret codes. Only savvy spies need apply!
 
11) A Toy's Story – Annie Starnes
Today's stores have rows and rows of toys and games, but what were toys like 20 years ago, 50 years ago, or even 100 or more years ago? Come explore the history and origins of toys and games of the past. Choosing one, you will then design, create, and build a model or prototype of a modern design that will appeal to your generation. Finally, we will create an advertisement/commercial to see which toys we would want for our very own!  
 
12) Vacation: Where Should I Go after the Pandemic? – Alex Brown

Who’s ready to travel? You have spent the last two months in quarantine and the travel ban has been lifted! Your family has given you the task of planning a family trip exploring the world. During this journey you will be given an unlimited budget and choose a real-life travel destination. In this class you will be given the tools and opportunity to research your destination and then create an itinerary of your trip. Your itinerary will include expenses, travel plans, lodging, and sightseeing locations. Pack your bags, and don’t miss your flight!
