Clubs and Organizations

The WKU English Club is a student run organization open to new members and new ideas. You don't even have to be an English major to join, only share our passion for literature, writing, and the humanities.
WKU's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta: The International English Honor Society, Pi Iota, has been an active part of our Department of English for nearly half a century. Its purpose is to recognize high student achievement in the study of English language and literature.

The WKU Professional Writing Club is a great place to learn more about possible careers, as well as how to better prepare for and handle job-searching. Connect with others who share your goals and learn more about future and immediate opportunities in your field!

Please contact Dr. Jones with any questions.

Next-Step Opportunities

The internship program provides students with the opportunity to complete semester-long internships for academic credit. These internships extend students' classroom experiences by giving them chances not only to apply their academic knowledge but also to learn new workplace skills.

To encourage active learning, the department supports students to study abroad at conferences and other academic events or excursions. Sometimes these are class activities, such as field trips or play attendance, but we also encourage individuals to submit papers written for their English classes to appropriate conferences.

Study away encourages students to take courses in other states as well as over seas.

Any current WKU undergraduate student may submit scholarly work to The Ashen Egg. Submissions must be endorsed by a WKU English faculty member confirming that the submission is a piece produced for one of the faculty member's courses and that it is worthy for publication.
