Addictions Education

Graduate Certificate

This interdisciplinary certificate program prepares students to provide counseling, education services, and/or support services to individuals experiencing addiction issues. Individuals who complete the program will be knowledgeable about the various components of addictions and gain skills related to their professional field such as prevention strategies, assessment procedures, intervention skills, treatment planning, and recovery support.

The Certificate in Career Services (CCS) is designed to provide helping professionals with advanced knowledge and skills needed to better serve students and clients within the context of a volatile and ever changing employment landscape.


College and Career Readiness

Graduate Certificate

This certificate program is for graduate students who are interested in the college and career readiness of P-12 students; with a specific focus on interacting and intervening with this target population, as well as developing professional relationships with school-related stakeholders. The College and Career Readiness (CCR) certificate is created to support the career and college readiness needs of local, regional, and national P-12 students.

Our faculty and students value experiential learning. Most of our classes are offered face to face on WKU’s Bowling Green campus, during the week in the afternoon and evenings and occasionally on weekends. Since we also offer a cohort model, many of our students become lifelong learners, colleagues and friends.

The Certificate in International Student Services offers graduate-level students preparation to manage educational exchange, lead campus internationalization, and provide international student services.

The Master of Arts in Education degree in Student Affairs is designed to prepare students to obtain entry and mid-level student affairs professional positions. Through a theory-based yet applications-oriented program, students gain necessary skills and competencies to succeed in a variety of student affairs units and postsecondary settings.

The School of Teacher Education’s newly redesigned Masters of Education (MAE) in Advanced Teacher Education degree is a transformational and personalized experience, informed by ongoing collaboration with school district partners and WKU faculty.

Graduate Certificate

The Adult Education certificate program provides a basic understanding of the theories, techniques, and concepts used in the adult education setting and facilitating change within adults. The certificate provides graduates with a basic understanding of the field of adult education and the ability to facilitate change, through adult learning, in a variety of settings.


Education Leadership Doctoral Program

Graduate Degree

The EdD program houses over 100 students who are pursuing skills and credentials to become the next generation of leaders in various education-based organizational settings. Our unique course offerings support the busy lifestyles of our students, most of whom remain fully employed even as they work through the program experiences.


Master of Arts in Education in Instructional Leadership, School Principal

Graduate Degree

The Master of Arts in Education, Instructional Leadership, School Principal program requires 30 hours of coursework and leads to eligibility for initial principal certification (Level 1, KP1). Completion of the program also makes a candidate eligible for recommendation for Rank 2 or Rank 1 (if the candidate already holds Rank 2).


Measurement, Evaluation, and Research, Post-Master's Certificate

The Clinical Psychology concentration of the Master of Arts program in Psychology at WKU is a 2-year concentration that prepares students to be successful performing both research and therapy in the multicultural world of today.


Specialist in Education: School Psychology

School psychologists engage in a wide variety of roles within school systems. School psychology services need to be tailored to the particular needs of each child and each situation. Thus, no matter what the role, a school psychologist must be able to evaluate a situation and problem-solve solutions.


Doctor of Psychology in Applied Psychology

The mission of the program is to train competent doctoral-level practitioner/scholars who have core foundations in interpersonal and scientific skills and mastery of clinical practice and evidence-based interventions, and who can apply their knowledge and skills within a range of settings, including rural and underserved populations.
