Professional Education Unit
The Professional Education Unit (PEU) is a collaboration across all education programs at Western Kentucky University (WKU). The PEU is comprised of over 30 initial certification areas and over 50 advanced level certifications. The PEU supports approximately 800 admitted and enrolled undergraduate teacher candidates.

WKU CAEP Information
CAEP advances equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.
Western Kentucky University is hosting an accreditation visit by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) on April 14-16, 2025. Interested parties are invited to submit third-party comments to the evaluation team.

KY Education Professional Standards Board
The Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) is charged with establishing standards of performance both for preparation programs and practitioners.
