WKU Summer Dance Intensive

On behalf of the WKU Dance Program, we send our warmest wishes to all of you, hoping that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.

As many cancellations have been posted for national summer dance festivals and college summer programs, the WKU Dance Program believes that for the safety of our intensive participants, dance faculty, and guest artists, cancellation is our only responsible course of action.

This is extremely difficult news for the WKU Dance Program to deliver to the amazing dancers that were planning on returning to our intensive, as well as the new faces we were looking forward to meeting. We do understand that COVID-19 is affecting each one of our communities, both in health as well as financial burdens. With this, the Department of Theatre & Dance will issue a full refund to all participants that have paid their summer intensive tuition. The WKU Dance Program will also honor the $250 scholarships awarded to Juniors and Seniors that enter the program as a dance major.

As we face these challenges together, dance will continue to unite us. The WKU Dance Program will host a free intensive day exclusively for our registered participants. Faculty will teach a ballet, jazz, modern, and tap technique class through Zoom on what would be our first day of classes, Monday, June 22nd. Information and access to this Summer Day of Dance will be emailed to you closer to date. We want to thank you for your continued support of our intensive and our program. While we won’t be able to dance with you in person this summer, we are excited to spend the day dancing with you.

The WKU Dance Program continues to support our mission of Creating Thinking Artists. We hope that you will join us on the hill for exciting performances and Dance Day opportunities for our 20/21 season.

In the meantime, please stay well. We look forward to staying connected to you virtually for our Summer Day of Dance and in person on the hill very soon.

Stay tuned for our 2021 Summer Dance Intensive Dates!

SDI 2021 will feature WKU Dance Faculty and support local guest artists with workshops in various dance styles.
