WKU Summer Dance Intensive

SDI 2021 will feature WKU Dance Faculty and support local guest artists with workshops
in various dance styles.
Featured Guest Artists
Coursework will include ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, world dance form, conditioning, improvisation, dance history, nutrition ... and more!
The WKU Summer Dance Intensive is designed for intermediate to advanced dancers (grades 9-12) as a unique opportunity to explore college level dance and the WKU experience. Following the mission of the WKU Dance Program, students will be challenged as "thinking artists," with a variety of classes to enhance their technical and artistic skills. Program of study will include daily ballet, jazz, and modern, dance technique classes along with coursework including pointe, tap, dance improvisation, dance history, and world dance forms. Daily discussions and events will highlight special interest topics designed to help prepare and inspire the pre-professional dancer. The week long intensive will culminate in a performance featuring university faculty and guest artist choreography.
Dancers have the option to participate in the full intensive, residing in the dorms and gaining a complete college experience. Or, dancers may choose to participate as commuters. Selected WKU dance majors will serve as RA's and accompany dancers throughout the intensive.
The application / registration process will begin in Spring 2021. Dancers finishing their senior year in high school or wishing to transfer may use this intensive as their placement audition into the Dance Program. Additionally, students who attend the summer dance intensive their junior and/or senior year of high school can receive a freshman scholarship within the Dance Program to attend WKU as a dance major!

Refund Policy: Participants may receive a full refund through May 15th, a 50% refund after May 15th through June 1st. No refunds after June 1st.
