Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education

Undergraduate Degree

The Elementary Education undergraduate program at WKU leads to the Bachelor of Science degree and the Kentucky Elementary Certificate (P-5). All teacher certification programs are accredited by Kentucky's Education Professional Standards Board and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.


Interactive Training and Leadership

Undergraduate Certificate

This 15-hour program will prepare students to analyze learners, learning contexts and skills, and design learning activities. Students will learn to evaluate those learning activities and to revise training activities. Students will acquire skills to develop multimedia training modules.


Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

Undergraduate Degree

The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program is designed to prepare early childhood educators to work with children both with and without special needs, ages birth through five years, and their families. Graduates are prepared for positions in public schools, Head Start programs, child care centers, and other private agencies serving young children and their families.


Bachelor of Science in Middle Level Education in Social Studies and Language Arts

Undergraduate Degree

The Middle Level Education in Social Studies and Language Arts program leads to the Bachelor of Science degree and certification for grades 5-9 in Social Studies, Language Arts / Communication, or both.


Bachelor of Science in Science and Mathematics Education (SMED)

Undergraduate Degree

To teach mathematics at the middle school level, you must complete the major in Science and Mathematics Education (SMED) and the major in Middle Grades Mathematics (MGM). These majors are a part of the SKyTeach program.


Bachelor of Science in Special Education: Learning and Behavior Disorders and Elementary Education

Undergraduate Degree

The Special Education/Elementary Education program combines the strong core-content instructional areas taught in elementary education with the strong differentiated-instruction skills for students with mild to moderate learning and behavior disabilities (LBD). 

Minor in Military Science

Undergraduate Minor

Those students who complete the advanced course may use military science as an academic minor. A minor in military science requires a variable number of hours depending upon the amount of advanced placement awarded the student by the PMS.


Bachelor of Science in Military Science

Undergraduate Degree

The Military Leadership major requires 36-42 hours and leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. 120 hours are necessary for graduation. The remaining credit hours are approximately 44 hours of general education courses and 34-40 hours are courses from the student’s second major or minor. A second major or minor is required. Students are encouraged to choose a second major related to their intended career objectives.

Associate of Arts in Business

Undergraduate Degree

The associate degree in business is a two-year program that quickly prepares students for employment in a variety of professional settings. Graduates may also complete a baccalaureate degree in several related areas.


Interdisciplinary Professionalism and Success

Undergraduate Certificate

This certificate focuses on competencies needed for career readiness and professional development for transitioning into the workplace. Coursework required in the following areas: foundational knowledge; research and writing; global learning, diversity, and service; and emerging professional exploration.


Associate of Arts of Interdisciplinary Studies

Undergraduate Degree

The Associate of Interdisciplinary Studies degree is designed for those who need or desire a flexible degree program. Within the limits specified for the degree, students, with their advisors, may design programs to suit their personal needs and educational objectives.


Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

Undergraduate Degree

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree provides an academic alternative to a traditional major program. The integration of studies within an overarching emphasis (complementary courses from different disciplines or academic programs) allows considerable latitude and flexibility to satisfy individual interests and needs.


Organizational Leadership

Undergraduate Certificate

This program is designed for students who want to enhance their leadership knowledge and skills for current or future activities in a broad range of organizations. Various disciplines have addressed leadership and developed a substantial body of related literature.


Minor in Organizational Leadership

Undergraduate Minor

The minor in Organizational Leadership requires 18 semester hours and is applicable to any undergraduate student desiring a minor.


Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership

Undergraduate Degree

The Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership provides an academic foundation for the professional and career-focused study of leadership principles and skills. It is specifically designed to advance the professional objectives of students who desire to complete a baccalaureate degree for career advancement and expanded job opportunities.


Real Estate

Undergraduate Certificate

The Certificate in Real Estate provides the student with knowledge of real estate brokerage operations, real estate investments analysis, and property management. Experience in real estate when combined with the Certificate prepares the student to qualify for licensing as a Real Estate Broker.


Bachelor of Science in Workforce Administration

Undergraduate Degree

Workforce Administration major (WFA) is an interdisciplinary major offered through the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. The Workforce Administration major applies a professional perspective to the management of people, information, processes, and systems within the organization. 

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

Undergraduate Degree

The Psychology program is suitable for those interested in pursuing specific career paths in psychology including clinical, counseling, and school as well as other related applied areas of psychology like forensic and sport psychology.


Minor in Clinical and Community Behavioral Health

Undergraduate Minor

The Clinical and Community Behavioral Health (CCBH) minor is for those interested in careers in mental and behavioral health such as Clinical, Counseling, and School Psychology; Social Work; and other fields in the human services sector.


Minor in Psychology

Undergraduate Minor

The minor in Psychology is a great program for those interested in helping others and who want to understand why people behave the way they do.
