Program Information
Strategy, Operations and Finance plays a vital role in supporting and advancing the University's commitment to academic excellence, administrative efficiency, and enabling meaningful student engagement in a digital age.
Departments reporting to the Executive Vice President include Budget, Financial Planning and Analytics, Business Services, Chief Financial Officer, Facilities - Chief Facilities Officer, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, WKU Police, and Strategy Performance and Accountability.
The Assistant Vice President for Budget, Financial Planning and Analytics oversees Accounts Payable, Budget, and Purchasing. The Assistant Vice President is responsible for the annual operating budget development, budget maintenance, financial planning and forecasting and the liaison for Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) and Chief Budget Officers (CBO).
The Chief Financial Officer oversees the following departments: Accounting & Financial Reporting, Bursar (including Billing & Receivables, Cashiers and Perkins Loans), Grants and Contracts Accounting, Payroll, Tax Compliance, and Travel.
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for Human Resources, Workers Compensation and Employee Wellness programs.
The Associate Vice President for Strategy, Performance and Accountability oversees the Innovation Campus and the Center for Research & Development (including Small Business Accelerator and Student Business Accelerator). The Associate Vice President plays a formative role in strategic planning, continued development, implementation, assessment, and accountability of initiatives and ongoing practices under the 2018-2028 WKU Strategic Plan Climbing to Greater Heights.
Business Services oversees Inventory Control, Parking & Transportation, Postal Services (including Passport Services and Post Office), Printing Services, Shipping & Receiving, Vending Services, the BN-WKU Store, and University Properties.
The Assistant Vice President for Information Technology Services leads the following departments: Applications and Programming Services, Technical Support Services, and Infrastructure & Operations. Important functional areas include Desktop Support; TopperTech (student device break/fix services); IT Service Desk; Learning Management Systems with Blackboard; Training; Telephone; Network Design and Infrastructure Services; Interactive Video Course Services; Audio Visual Services; Cabling; Student Technology Centers (Computer Labs); the Technology Resource Center, core administrative and academic systems and programming support; enterprise web development; and commodity services support and operations such as email, file storage and print, and directory and identity services.
Departments reporting directly to the Chief Facilities Officer include: Facilities Management; Planning, Design, and Construction; and Environmental, Health and Safety.
The WKU Police Department is a professional full service agency operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Chief of Police also oversees Access Control.
