Week of 4/28 to 5/04
Sunday, April 28th
6:00am - 10:30pm
  • Location: Fitness Center
  • Time: 6:00am - 10:30pm

An ultra marathon is a race defined as any running event longer than the traditional marathon race distance of 42 kilometers, or 26.1 miles. Every year, millions of people participate in these races across the nation. Running and walking are great cardiovascular exercises, targeting all the major muscle groups of the legs. Cardiovascular exercise promotes a healthy heart, lungs, and vascular system. This month, challenge yourself and begin getting in shape for the summer by running and/or walking as many miles as possible on any of the treadmills in the Fitness Center!

Rules:

  • Notify a FC Attendant before you begin
  • Use any treadmill in the Fitness Center
  • Ellipticals, bikes, and the track do not count for this challenge
  • When you finish, alert a FC Attendant to record your miles on the MOM board
  • Participate as many times as you can
  • The winner will be the person who completes the most miles throughout the month of April
  • The male and female who complete the most miles will win a $15 Mellow Mushroom Gift Card
  • Each time you participate, your name will be entered into a raffle for one of two $10 Mellow Mushroom Gift Cards
  • Participate at least twice in the month to receive WellU® credit
Monday, April 29th

We all know that we need to stretch, but we don’t always get around to it. Make it a priority this month with the stretching challenge! Stretching before and after exercise has many benefits including enhancement of exercise performance, reduced muscle tension, increased range of motion in the joints, and increased blood circulation throughout the body. Learn how to perform three stretching exercises by participating in this month’s challenge. Although you can only participate once per day, you may participate as many days as possible throughout the month of May. The male and female who accumulate the most days of participation at the end of the month, plus two raffle winners will win Wal-Mart gift cards!

    • Posterior Stretching Machine (Hamstrings)
    • Chest Stretch on an Exercise Ball
    • Foam Roll the IT-Band
  • Notify a FC Attendant before participating.
  • If you are new to these stretches, ask a FC Attendant to demonstrate before participating.
  • Perform each stretch for the designated amount of time before moving to the next stretch.
  • FC Attendant will record your participation on the MOM Board and enter your name into the MOM Raffle.
  • Participate as many times throughout May to increase your score.
  • Patrons can participate once per day.
  • Patrons must participate twice in order to receive WellU Credit.

  • Location: South Lawn or Preston Center's Multipurpose Room
  • Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Join ORAC on the first Wednesday of the month for an adventure film showing.  The film will either be shown outside under the stars of South Lawn or inside in the Preston Center’s Multipurpose Room.  Check on the ORAC website for what film will be presented each month.  Snacks will be provided.

  • Location: Clifty Hollow, BG
  • Time: 4:00pm

Spend the afternoon with ORAC as we head out to Clifty Hollow for bouldering instruction and practice.  Crash pads, helmets, and transportation are included in the cost.  No previous bouldering experience is necessary.
