- Brian Kuster
- Wednesday, March 18th, 2020
TO ALL WKU FACULTY AND STAFF,
We understand that this is an unusual and stressful time for all students and staff. However, we know that Hilltoppers always persevere and adapt to every situation with creativity, innovation, and a positive attitude. While we may be learning apart from one another for the remainder of the semester, we are always together in the Hilltopper Spirit. We look forward to seeing our students who return to the Hill in the fall. In the meantime, here is information you will need for this semester.
March 18, 2020 - COVID-19 Update | Residence Halls & Dining
As previously announced, WKU will deliver instruction via alternate delivery formats through the end of the spring semester, with no face-to-face instruction occurring the remainder of this academic term.
Your health and safety is our primary concern, and we are here to assist you through this transition.
All residence halls will close on Sunday, March 22, at Noon. Move-out time slots available March 23-31.
Students currently present on campus should make plans to return to their residences away from campus to continue their studies remotely through the end of the semester.
The move-out process will be conducted in stages and extend March 23-31 to protect the health and safety of students and staff. First priority for move-out will be given to the students currently living in WKU Student Housing who stayed or returned during spring break. After that move-out, residents currently away from campus will schedule a specific day and time to move out to allow for appropriate social distancing in our buildings and to limit the number of people on campus. To reduce the spread of germs, moving boxes, equipment, and volunteers will not be available.
Appeal for Extension to Remain in Campus Housing
Any student who needs an extension to the required move-out date (Sunday, March 22 at noon) or who cannot leave WKU Housing must apply for the exemption below by Thursday, March 19 at 4:30 PM.
Exemption Form: https://wku.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9Ahbkot3cvk9LLL

Residential students who are graduating at the end of the spring semester who officially complete the checkout process by March 31st will receive a prorated credit that will be applied to their Spring 2020 account.
A prorated credit for spring 2020 meal plans will be applied to student accounts in fall 2020. Flex dollars will roll over to Fall 2020.
Students who are graduating at the end of the spring semester receive a prorated meal plan and flex dollar credit that will be applied to their Spring 2020 account.
The WKU Restaurant Group will provide dining locations and hours of operation in the coming days. Visit www.wku.edu/wkurg for updates.
The Counseling Center
The Counseling Center will remain open this semester, but we will NOT be offering face-to-face counseling sessions in our center. All counseling will be done by phone or computer applications. Students will still be able get quality counseling through these applications. This allows students and staff to continue social distancing and reduce their exposure to the virus. Our staff counselors will be working from home as well. Please feel free to call the Counseling Center with any questions you may have about counseling (270-745-3159). We encourage students who want to begin counseling, call our center to make an appointment. We will take some information from you over the phone and then connect you with a counselor who will call you.
While each unit adapts to the latest operational changes, be sure to check the website often for updates at: www.wku.edu/covid19.
