Western Kentucky University’s School of Media & Communication continued its tradition of national success in the annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program with a second-place finish in the 2025 Overall Intercollegiate Competition.

Mykah Carden has been named a Udall scholar. The Udall Undergraduate Scholarship recognizes outstanding students studying the environment, Native American Tribal policy, and health care. Mykah is the first WKU student to receive this award since 2010.

Uthman A. Rasaq, who completed his Master of Science in Mathematics with a concentration in Computational Mathematics in December, is the 2024-2025 recipient of WKU’s John D. Minton Graduate Student Award, WKU’s top graduate student award.

The Freeman Award for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) recognized four WKU students as winners and two additional students as alternates. Additionally, the Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant was awarded to one student.
