The Center for Gifted Studies Hosts Over 400 Students at the 2026 Fall Super Saturdays
- Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026
November 2, 2026 (Bowling Green, Kentucky) -- More than 400 students participated in the biannual Super Saturdays held by The Center for Gifted Studies on October 17, 24, and 31 on the campus of Western Kentucky University (WKU). Students in first through sixth grade participated in one of 28 classes for minds-on, hands-on learning led by educators from the southcentral Kentucky area.
For three decades, Super Saturdays has offered fall and winter programming in three-week sessions. From acting to missions in space to photography to math detectives to robotics, students choose a class and learn more about a topic they love or discover something new they might want to pursue.
“There’s nothing quite like watching the students arrive on a weekend morning, buzzing with questions, and ready to dive into learning something new,” said Jennifer Wilson, program coordinator for Super Saturdays. “Whether they’re building a rocket, exploring their cameras in photography, or learning about blood types, these kids are bursting with curiosity and excitement. Seeing their enthusiasm is the best part of my week.”
Super Saturdays provides an opportunity not only for advanced learners, but also for families to learn how to support their student through the Parent Seminars. Workshops include topics such as the fundamentals of gifted education, advocacy, take-home enrichment ideas, and programs to challenge students.
“This class was another in a series of several other Super Saturdays experiences that are doing a lovely job of setting my daughter up for a future as a woman in STEM!” said one parent of a participant.
