Veterans Event at the KY Museum
Kentuckians at War
On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, the KY Museum will host a Veterans Day event. From 5-6 PM, WKU history professor David Serafini will present "Kentuckians at War." David Serafini is a popular history professor at WKU. He has taught several courses covering WWI and II including Military History, War and Society, First World War, Hitler and Nazi Germany and more.
After Professor Serafini’s presentation, attendees who wish may go with curators to Classroom II in the KY Museum to see 8 tables filled with World War I & II weapons, uniforms, military equipment, letters, battlefield souvenirs and more. This is a rare opportunity to view up close a portion of our military collection.
In addition to our programming, the museum is honoring veterans with an online exhibit. Southcentral Kentuckians have proudly served their nation for generations. To honor that service, veterans and those currently serving, please submit a photo of yourself while serving, or submit for a relative, hometown and state, branch of service, and a brief description of your job while serving, to our online exhibit, Wall of Honor. If you encounter problems with the online submission form, please contact Dr. Christy Spurlock.
Military Collection
The KY Museum has thousands of military related items in our collection. Click here for a few examples. We often host CLOSE STUDY sessions for WKU classes. Students and professors view, discuss, research and reflect upon uniforms, military gear, weaponry, items from the home front and much more. Considering donating an item related to military service?
