Message from the Department Chair

The Department of Mathematics at Western Kentucky University is home to a diverse faculty who excel in teaching, research, and service. We are positioned to provide, strengthen and support mathematics and statistics education at all levels within the University. Additionally, our Department is fortunate to have a very cordial and competent staff to support its faculty, student population, and the entire university community. 

This year will be my 14th year at WKU as a faculty member and my 3nd year as chair of the Mathematics Department. I have been teaching in the Mathematics Department for 13 years after spending one year in the School of Teacher Education.

Our programs emphasize sound instruction, abundant study support, and a fertile learning environment geared to engage inquiry, and to enhance student achievement and success in learning and applying mathematics. Support for Student Success in Mathematics

The Mathematics Department provides a Math Tutoring Lab in COHH 2124 to provide free tutoring to students taking classes in our department, especially those taking general education mathematics courses. Also, the Mathematics Department provides a Math Testing Center in COHH 2126 (270-745-2141) for students to take course exams and Math Placement Exams, if eligible, in a proctored environment. Please direct all Tutoring Lab and Testing Center questions to the coordinator of both, Jill Price (jill.price@wku.edu).
