If you have not done so already, please remember to complete FY 2023 Performance Development and Goal Setting Conversations. This process applies at all WKU Staff.
What is Performance Development?
Performance Development is a process that helps employees and supervisors succeed at accomplishing the mission of the institution by engaging in continuous and meaningful dialogues about achievements, skills, and workstyle. The facilitation of this begins with an E-Signature form, which is available on the E-Signature Forms homepage under “P” for performance, titled “Performance Development Reflection and Goal Setting (FY 2023)”. This form should be accompanied by one-on-one conversations between supervisors and their employees that focus on performance development, goals, and action plans for the new fiscal year. Human Resources has created a helpful web page explaining how supervisors can manage conversations around performance development.
Why is this required?
Discussion and feedback between managers/supervisors and employees are essential to ensuring good work is validated and problems are addressed. The formal procedure helps to facilitate and keep record of these conversations. Completion of performance reviews are also required by our accreditors.
When does this need to be completed?
All portions of the E-Signature forms should be submitted as soon as possible. It is recommended that supervisors schedule time to have one-on-one conversations with staff that accompany their comments to ensure a formative experience. Once supervisor comments are added, copies will be retained by the employee, supervisor, and Human Resources. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring timely completion of the process.
We hope that all can see the benefit in performance development and goal setting conversations. We thank you in advance for your participation in this process. Please contact us with any questions.
