The Voices of the Commonwealth works to advocate for change in the out of home care system to improve the outcomes of young people in Kentucky who experience out of home care.  Members develop and take action with advocacy goals, share their experiences with legislators, foster/adoptive parents, social workers, and community member, and assist in planning and facilitating regional and statewide events for young people in foster care. This is a remote position; however, must be available on campus,if ever needed. This is a grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon funding/need.

Western Kentucky University's LifeSkills Center for Child Welfare Education and Research (LCCWEAR) is seeking applications for the Integrated Family Trauma Treatment Clinic Trauma Clinician.  The Trauma Clinician will provide evidence-based trauma therapy, case management, and systemic advocacy/collaboration for children, adults, and families and therapeutic services will include therapy, comprehensive trauma assessment, ongoing reassessment and screening, and education. Non-therapeutic interventions to include case management, referrals, service follow up, and parenting education. Additionally, the trauma clinician will assist in the development and facilitation of a systemic intervention intended to prevent out of home placement of children involved in the child welfare system and will report to the Clinic Manager of the IFTTC. 

The Trauma Clinician will have an ability to establish priorities and work independently to meet deadlines, be organized and detail oriented with the capacity to work in a busy environment with frequent interruption, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability, cooperation, and customer service. Also, they will demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency to include Microsoft Office Suite and have excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills. The Trauma Clinician will possess strong decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills and strong interpersonal communication skills with an ability to work with a wide spectrum of individuals in a diverse setting.

• Provide evidence-based or evidence-informed trauma-specific therapy services
• Maintain an ongoing caseload with children and parents involved in the child welfare system, completing detailed documentation of service delivery

• Contribute to development, design, and facilitation of learning collaborative for child welfare intervention
• Participate in and co-facilitate multidisciplinary case consultation for families involved with the child welfare system
• Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with network of community partners, including Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services, to enhance the provision of services

The Dairy Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the WKU Dairy/SmartHolstein Lab to include animal care, health, and well-being, animal nutrition, reproduction and genetics, marketing of livestock and milk, facility upkeep, cow comfort, management of lab technologies, forage production and harvest, public outreach, and managing dairy workers.  Additionally, the Dairy Manager will work with the AREC Director on how to best utilize the Dairy budget to generate as much revenue as possible while still providing a laboratory for student engagement, education, outreach, and applied research. The WKU dairy is designed to milk 56 cows with associated replacements at the WKU Agriculture Research and Education Center. The WKU SmartHolstein Lab is a strategic, synergistic partnership between Holstein Association USA and Western Kentucky University Department of Agriculture and Food Science designed to be a research, development, and demonstration center for the dairy industry.  With over 30 technologies in place, the SmartHolstein Lab has been established as an easy-to-access demonstration and development farm to explore new technologies designed to collect novel phenotypic traits including wearable or indwelling sensors and milk-based biomarkers. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to work with genetically elite Holstein cows and cutting-edge technologies in a University setting.  Housing can be provided, and there are opportunities to work towards a graduate degree while in this position.
