Staff Onboarding

Western Kentucky University is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for new employees. Our onboarding process promotes clarity, engagement, and productivity by providing essential tools, resources, and guidance from day one.

Staff Onboarding Guidelines provide a structured framework for onboarding new staff  at Western Kentucky University. The process ensures compliance, facilitates access to key resources, and encourages engagement throughout the first 90 days and beyond.

Supervisors should review and follow these guidelines  to ensure a positive new hire experience.

New Staff Orientation is available to all new benefits-eligible staff and is scheduled at the start of each pay period within the bi-weekly payroll cycle, as outlined in the annual schedule.

To ensure the best possible onboarding experience, it is strongly recommended that new staff begin employment on one of these designated orientation dates.

Supervisors should familiarize themselves with the Probationary Period Policy and their responsibilities during this time. To support employee success and engagement, supervisors must conduct check-ins at 30 and 60 days, followed by a final evaluation at the conclusion of the probationary period.
