CHHS Diversity & Inclusion

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to CHHS Diversity & Inclusion!

As the WKU College of Health and Human Services, we are committed to recognizing and respecting the value of diversity, equity and inclusion. Recent weeks have exposed many of the hurtful and harsh realities of the hate and inequities that permeate throughout our country. The impact of COVID-19 has further exposed and exacerbated these realities in every arena, including education and health care. COVID-19 is real…even if you or no one you know has been sick. It is real, even if you or someone you know has been infected, with no visible symptoms.  The same can be said about racism. It is real. It exists even if you have not been directly impacted. It exists even if you think no one you know has been directly affected. Racism has been a long standing “pandemic” spread at times silently and other times quite obviously. It is spread by strangers. It is spread by people we know.  Sometimes it is even spread by people we love. Infecting others. We are determined to contribute to the solution. We are determined to help prevent the spread.

We believe BLACK LIVES MATTER.

We RECOGNIZE that racism exists.

We RESPECT the experiences and feelings of those who have been impacted by the ills of racism.

We will EDUCATE and seek to be educated.

We will RESPOND with sustainable efforts to institute change.

We are CHHS.

We are ONE WKU.
