Class discussions, whether held face-to-face or online, are a great teaching strategy to get students talking about the material and how it relates to them both inside and outside of the classroom, but how might we strengthen our discussions to get students to think deeper and more critically? In this session, we will explore effective discussion strategies utilized by faculty across campus and talk about things such as students who either dominate or seem to not participate in the conversation, managing difficult conversations, bringing a discussion back on topic, and more.
