Declining Balance Dollars

Flex Plan (formerly called MPD Flex)

All full-time undergraduate students enrolled in 12 credit hours or more, who do not select a traditional meal plan, will participate in the Flex Plan program. The Flex Plan of $300 is charged to the student’s account automatically when the full-time criteria (12 credit hours) is met in the fall and spring semesters.

  • Does include full-time students living on- and off-campus.
  • Financial aid and scholarships can be used towards the charge

The Flex Plan is an account on the student’s ID card. This Flex plan is designed to supplement a student’s campus dining needs and can be used at all WKU Restaurant Group dining locations.  If you purchase a traditional meal plan you will be exempt from the Flex Plan. Please note that additional funds cannot be added to the Flex Plan account.

  • Full-time students living on campus, including the WKU KY Street apartments, who do not have a traditional meal plan will be assessed the Flex Plan each semester.
  • Off-campus full-time students that do not have 3 or more 'face-to-face' classes on the main campus will be exempt from the Flex Plan during that semester.
  • Excluded from the Flex Plan are all first-year (less than two regular session semesters) students living on-campus under the age of 21 who are required to participate in one of the on-campus meal plans.

Flex plan purchases will receive 11% off all applicable items in retail dining locations and save $1 off the door price when used in the Fresh Food Company, giving you even more buying power! The Flex Plan offers an average of $18.75 per week and additional funds cannot be added to the Flex Plan. You can upgrade to a traditional meal plan to satisfy all your campus dining needs.

Any unused Flex associated with this program will roll over semester to semester and year to year.  Upon graduation or departure from the University, any remaining Flex will be forfeited.

Meal Plan Dollars

Meal Plan Dollars are a part of your Meal Plan and can be customized to fit your needs.  These Meal Plan Dollars can be used in all on campus dining locations including Einstein Bros. Bagels, Panda Express, and Starbucks! Any additional Meal Plan Dollars added via TopNet will be added to your university bill. When using Meal Plan Dollars, you will save 11% on all applicable purchases and save $1.00 off the door price when used in the Fresh Food Company. Meal Plan Dollars can also be used at Chili's Grill & Bar next to campus.

Your Student May Need More Meal Plan Dollars!

When signing up for your meal plan you can add up to $200 additional Meal Plan Dollars in $50 increments via TopNet to help with all the 'extras' you may want. This chart shows week-to-week spending to ensure the dollars last all semester. It can help you budget your MPD according to your Meal Plan chosen AND help determine if you will need to add additional MPD. Meal Plan Dollars must be added to the student account by August 31st. For more meal plan information, check out our on-campus and off-campus meal plan options.

Dining Dollar Account

Dining Dollars is a separate account designed for off campus students and upperclassmen. Dining Dollars are loaded onto your student ID card and are accepted at all WKU Restaurant Group locations. When using Dining Dollars, you will save 11% on all applicable purchases and save $1.00 off the door price when used in the Fresh Food Company. Dining Dollars never expire and may be added at any time throughout the year by going to TopNet or to the ID Center, DSU 2125.
