WKU Dance Company
About the Company:
The Western Kentucky University Dance Company is the resident dance company of the WKU Department of Theatre & Dance. The company performs diverse choreography by faculty and guest artists in local, regional, and national venues. Choreography encompasses a variety of dance genres including ballet, jazz, modern, and tap dance in both classical and contemporary approaches. The company presents two full-length concerts each year and performs regularly with the WKU Symphony and for national festivals and various community events.
The WKU Dance Company follows the mission of the WKU Dance Program and strives to create "Thinking Artist's," individuals who work to achieve their highest potential as artists, technicians and scholars. The company aims to prepare the dance student for the professional world while also educating the community and region through a variety of concert and community performances.
Western Kentucky University is the only university in Kentucky and Tennessee that is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD). For more information on the WKU Dance Program, visit https://www.wku.edu/theatre-and-dance/about_us/dance_at_wku/dance-at-wku.php
