The object of this contest is to see who can design, construct and test the most efficient bridge within certain given specifications. Model bridges are built with basswood and are intended to be simplified versions of real-world bridges. Bridges will be loaded until failure with the bridge with the highest structural efficiency declared the winner.
The competition will be held at the WKU Center for Research and Development on Saturday, March 14 at approximately 9:00 a.m. for Middle School teams and 12:00 p.m. for High School teams. Bridge check-in will be open Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and continue on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
