Hilltoppers in China

Who said study abroad is only for students? On July 10th 43 members of the WKU community traveled to China through a program arranged by the Confucius Institute. Throughout their three-week stay in this country, the participants will work on their Chinese language skills, learn and embrace the Chinese culture, visit amazing locations and more importantly, create memories that will last a lifetime.

Even as the events of the 2016 presidential election unfold, WKU’s Dr. Timothy Rich, Assistant Professor of Political Science, continues to turn his attention internationally, studying the processes of politics beyond our border.

Schulte is a behavioral ecologist who specializes in the chemical aspects of ecology and animal behavior. He studies the use of chemical signaling as a mode of communication in animals and how this affects their behavior in a broader sense.

A WKU biology faculty member has received a National Science Foundation research grant to study how arctic songbirds have adapted to diminished sleep patterns and how that might help in the understanding of sleep loss in humans.
