Western Kentucky University (WKU) and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) have renewed and expanded their mutual tuition discount agreement, adding a master’s degree option for KCTCS employees. The agreement makes higher education more affordable for eligible employees of both institutions and broadens opportunities for professional development and educational attainment throughout the KCTCS system and WKU.
Under the agreement, full-time KCTCS employees are eligible for a 50% discount on mandatory tuition and fees for eligible WKU courses, including On Demand courses, effective immediately. The benefit applies to employees pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree or enrolled in a certificate program.
Full-time WKU employees are eligible for a 50% tuition discount through KCTCS when pursuing an associate degree or certificate program. The benefit is available until completion of one associate degree and is contingent upon maintaining a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities and helping more Kentuckians achieve their academic and professional goals,” said WKU President Timothy C. Caboni. “By working together, WKU and KCTCS can make higher education more accessible and affordable for our employees while strengthening the connections between our institutions and the communities we serve.”
The agreement builds on the institutions’ shared role in preparing Kentucky’s workforce and supporting lifelong learning. By reducing financial barriers to additional education, the partnership will help employees pursue new credentials, advance their careers and develop skills that benefit their workplaces and communities.
“Investing in our employees is an investment in the future of our institutions and the Commonwealth,” Caboni said. “Whether a WKU employee is beginning an associate degree or a KCTCS employee is working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree, this partnership creates another pathway to reach those goals. I am grateful for the collaboration with KCTCS and the opportunities this agreement will provide.”
