WKU News
Week Two
- Monday, August 31st, 2026
Dear Colleagues,
As we move into the second week of the fall semester, I want to thank each of you for the many ways you helped create a welcoming and supportive start to the academic year. The energy and care you have shown to our students, especially our newest Hilltoppers, during these first weeks remain an important part of what makes WKU such a special place!
Whether you helped students and families during move-in, volunteered as a Topper Directions guide, supported M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan, connected with students at Topper Fest or welcomed them through one of the many events and activities taking place across our campus, your presence mattered. These moments may seem insignificant, but together they send a powerful message to our students. The sense of belonging is an important foundation for student success. Thank you for continuing to make WKU a place where students feel welcomed, connected and encouraged to make the most of their college experience.
Each academic year offers many opportunities for the Hilltopper Family to gather on campus, from engaging lectures and inspiring theater performances to student recitals, athletic events and so much more. As a reminder, all WKU faculty and staff can receive two free tickets, two free drinks (soda or bottled water) and two free food items (hot dog or popcorn) for one home volleyball game and two home football games this fall. Event dates are:
- September 17, WKU Volleyball vs. Oklahoma
- October 8, WKU Football vs. Missouri State
- October 27, WKU Football vs. Delaware
You may also purchase additional tickets to these two football games for just $10. To receive your tickets, visit the Diddle Arena ticket office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or on game day until noon. Please note that you must pick up tickets and concession vouchers in advance.
As we continue the semester, I also hope you will take some time to enjoy the Hilltopper community beyond campus. On Thursday, September 3, we will gather for WKU Night at the Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. Tickets are just $10 in advance, including fees, for WKU students, faculty, staff, alumni, families and friends when you use promo code WKU. You may purchase tickets here.
Finally, please mark your calendars and plan to join the WKU Community on Tuesday, October 20, at 10 a.m. for the groundbreaking ceremony for the initial phase of our housing transformation initiative, Elevate WKU. As we gather, we will celebrate the construction of an approximately 1,000-bed facility and all that it means for our students. More information can be found at wku.edu/elevate.
I hope you will consider joining your colleagues, friends and fellow Hilltoppers as we celebrate our university and our community. Thank you, again, for welcoming our students and making WKU feel like home.
Go Tops!
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
