Western Kentucky University recently announced the 2026 recipients of the ONE WKU Award for faculty and staff. The ONE WKU Award recognizes members of the university community who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to fostering a culture of dignity, respect, collaboration and opportunity across campus and beyond.
This year’s faculty recipient is Dr. Kimberly J. Green, Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Program Director for the graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology. A licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, Dr. Green has built a distinguished career focused on culturally responsive practice, global engagement and interprofessional collaboration.

Her work has prepared future clinicians to serve all communities with compassion, skill and cultural awareness. She has developed innovative coursework and international learning opportunities that broaden students’ understanding of speech-language pathology in global contexts.
In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Green has been a strong advocate for refugee and immigrant families in Bowling Green, supporting efforts to improve access to education, healthcare and community resources. Her service at the local, state and national levels reflects her deep commitment to inclusive excellence and access for all.
The 2026 staff recipient is Ryan Jones, Academic Advisor in the Ogden College of Science and Engineering. Known for his student-centered approach, Jones consistently goes beyond the scope of his role to ensure students feel supported, valued and empowered to succeed.
In addition to his work advising students, Jones serves as an On-Campus Advisor for Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and the Why Knot Us Black Male Initiative, where he mentors students and helps create spaces of belonging, encouragement and academic support.
Jones's impact also extends into the Bowling Green community through his mentorship with the Boys to Men Brown Print Mentorship Program and Jonesville Academy, as well as his volunteer service with Curbside Ministries. His dedication to service and student success has made a lasting difference both on campus and in the broader community.
Through their leadership, mentorship and commitment to others, Dr. Green and Ryan Jones exemplify the spirit of ONE WKU and the values that make WKU a welcoming and supportive community. Their impact continues to strengthen the university’s mission of creating meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, staff and the broader community.
