Celebrating Our Students and the WKU Community
- Wednesday, May 6th, 2026
Dear Colleagues,
As the Spring 2026 semester comes to a close, I would like to express my gratitude for your dedication and commitment to our students. Your passion for teaching, scholarship, and service has been evident throughout the semester, and it is a privilege to work alongside such a talented and purposeful community of faculty and staff.
As we approach Spring Commencement, we look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our graduating students and the many people who helped them reach this milestone. Commencement is one of the most meaningful moments of the academic year. For our students, it represents both the completion of an important chapter and the beginning of new opportunities and aspirations.
For our faculty and staff, commencement is also a time of pride and reflection. So much of your work centers on our students and seeing them cross the stage is a powerful reminder of the difference you make every day. You have guided students through challenging coursework, mentored them as they explored research and creative activities, and supported their growth both inside and outside the classroom. Your commitment has helped them build the knowledge, confidence, and curiosity they will carry forward into their futures.
I encourage you to take time to rest and recharge. The work you do is demanding, and caring for your well-being is essential. I look forward to continuing our shared work of educating and supporting the next generation of Hilltoppers.
As the semester concludes, I encourage you to join me in celebrating our graduates and the community that helped make their success possible. Thank you for the many ways you continue to support our students and contribute to a brighter future for WKU and our region.
I wish you a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer, and I look forward to seeing you on campus soon.
Sincerely,
Robert "Bud" Fischer
