Western Kentucky University is proud to recognize Malachi Humble as the 2026 recipient of the ONE WKU Award for students. The ONE WKU Award recognizes students, faculty and staff who demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a campus culture of dignity, respect, collaboration and opportunity. Humble’s leadership, service and commitment to building community reflect the very best of what it means to be a Hilltopper.
From his first semester on campus, Humble immersed himself in the WKU experience. As an Orientation Leader and Campus Tour Guide, he has welcomed hundreds of prospective students and their families, helping them feel a genuine sense of belonging. Known for his ability to connect with others, Humble takes time to learn each student’s story, offering guidance, encouragement and a warm introduction to life on the Hill. Whether leading tours in English or Spanish or assisting with major campus events, he consistently represents WKU with professionalism and pride.
Humble’s leadership extends beyond admissions work. As a Senior Senator in the Student Government Association, he founded the inaugural Big Red Rise senior sunrise event, creating a new tradition centered on connection and reflection for graduating students. He has also contributed to campus initiatives as a member of the Gordon Ford College of Business Dean’s Council and played a role in shaping campus culture by naming the Topper Grind in Chandler Hall.
Outside the university, Humble remains deeply engaged in service. He volunteers weekly with Curbside Ministries and serves as Social Media Manager and Kids’ Worship Director at Crossland Community Church. In addition, he is the founder of Carnes Studio, a photography business that has supported both community members and WKU initiatives.
Humble will graduate this May with a dual degree in Strategic Marketing and Spanish, with a concentration in international business. He plans to pursue a Fulbright opportunity, combining his passion for global engagement, language and marketing.
Through his resilience, leadership and genuine care for others, Malachi Humble has made a lasting impact on WKU and the broader community. His work embodies the spirit of ONE WKU and serves as a powerful example of how one student can shape the experience of many.
