Sarah Chapman is an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at Western Kentucky University.  A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, she graduated with a BA in Vocal Performance from Western Kentucky University and an MM in Vocal Pedagogy from Belmont University.

 

Sarah has distinguished herself in musicals, operas, recitals, and choral masterworks as a soloist and actress.  Some of her operatic roles include Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury and the title role of Ruth in the United States’ premiere of Ronal Beckett’s Ruth.  Her musical theater features include Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, Ilona in Bock and Harnick’s She Loves Me, and Maria in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music.  In addition to her stage roles, Sarah has had the pleasure of singing backup vocals in the recording studio and live jazz and folk covers of popular songs in Music City.

 

Although performing is a passion, her faith and her teaching are what fuel her.  Sarah has five years of experience teaching private voice in with students of diverse styles, experience levels, and backgrounds.  She also has partnered in community theater projects with Springhouse Theatre Company, Christian Youth Theater Nashville, and Belmont Church’s Center Stage as a music director and educator.  Notable projects include Stephen Flaherty’s Seussical Jr.; Clark Gesner’s You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown; Lerner’s My Fair Lady; and Tom Long and Allen Pote’s The Old Testament Fast Forward.

 

Sarah currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
