WKU Music Audition & Scholarship Application


Fall 2024 Admission to the WKU Music Program (Audition Dates):

  • As part of the application process you will be asked to choose from the scheduled Audition Dates below. Should you not be available for any of those dates, individual auditions can be arranged by selecting -- Other by Appointment -- from the Audition Dates menu in the application.

  • Prospective students must apply and audition for admission to the WKU Music Program as either a Music Major or Minor. Complete the form below to arrange an audition. Audition information/guidelines can be found here.

  • The Department of Music offers a variety of monetary awards to undergraduate students who demonstrate outstanding musical ability, including Grants-In-Aid, the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship, and a number of endowed scholarships donated by alumni and friends of WKU. To be considered for WKU Scholarship Awards (including non-music awards) students must complete the TopDollar Scholarship Application found at: www.wku.edu/topdollar. In addition, to be considered for Music Scholarships and Grants, applicants should audition by February 24, 2024.

Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship:

The Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship is a competitive award, based on the requirements of the department in which you apply. Award amounts are between $1,000 and $9,000 per year, renewable each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters. High school seniors are invited to apply if they plan to attend WKU and major in one of the creative arts area degrees (Visual Studies, Visual Art, Creative Writing, Film, Music Performance, Music Education, Theatre, Acting, Musical Theatre, Theatre Design & Technology, and Dance).

Only incoming freshman are eligible for this award.

Retaining Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship

Scholarships are renewed each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.  Terms for renewal include full-time status at Western Kentucky University, good academic standing (a cumulative GPA of 3.0+), and declaring and making reasonable progress toward an approved arts major (see above). Individual departments may have additional policies.
