WKU Symphonic Band “Diamonds in the Sky”

- Van Meter Hall - $5 general admission (buy at door)
- The Symphonic Band is performing a concert called “Diamonds in the Sky” based on a star theme. Pieces from Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Variations to James Barnes Variants on a Moravian Hymn (O Cheering Star). We will feature Sophomore Soprano, Kiris Ray, on Steven Bryant’s All Stars Are Love. How could we do a program of stars without something from Star Wars - come out and hear Star Wars - The Marches!
WKU Wind Ensemble

Program will feature the following works for wind band:
Sousa – Sesquicentennial Exposition March. Written in 1926 by John Philip Sousa to celebrate America’s 150th anniversary of independence.
Weber – Clarinet Concerto #1 – mvt. III Rondo
Performed by sophomore Andrew Blosser, winner of the 2026 WKU Concerto Competition.
Viet Coung – Deciduous. This is a contemporary work for wind band that explores new color palettes for the wind band.
David Maslanka – Symphony No. 7. This 35 minute, four movement symphony for band features wind band with piano (performed by Dr. Zachary Lopes).

On Sunday, April 26, the WKU choirs present just dance… Which features choral music based on dance or around the theme of dance. Folk songs from South America, Latin America, Germany, Ireland, and America will be presented. The a cappella groups the red shirts, and the treblemakers will also be performing.

o The Campus Community Band is large symphonic band comprised of WKU students and community members. The program, “Peaks, Parades, and Pastimes” features outstanding works for concert band ranging from Rimsky-Korsakov’s famous work, Procession of the Nobles, includes a fun work called, Swings the Thing, and George and Ira Gershwin’s epic ballad, Someone to Watch Over Me, sung by Keelin Murrell, a senior vocal music education major. The concert will conclude with Billy Joel’s classic piano rag, Root Beer Rag, featuring the band’s saxophone section.
