International Orientation Leader Program
General Description:
The International Student Orientation Leaders (IOL) program allows domestic and international students to have a visible and active leadership role in WKU’s international student orientation program. Selection to the position is a unique honor and a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. Serving as an International Orientation Leader is a great opportunity to explore your leadership traits, develop intercultural communication skills, and an excellent addition to your resume.
Eligibility and Requirements:
- Currently enrolled student with a minimum overall 2.5 GPA
- Completed at least 1 academic year at WKU
- Availability to work ALL of the following dates and times: April 29, 2017: Training Day
- Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Time: Various, TBD
- Time: Minimum 7:45 am – 4:30 pm, with additional evening hours as needed
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend mandatory trainings, pre-orientation events, and orientation
- Punctuality is expected in regards to all events
- Assist in the set up and take down of orientation events
- Aid IEM staff during check-in procedures
- Facilitate programs and activities during orientation
- Guide campus tours for first year students
- Serve as a role model for incoming students
Essential Functions:
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and guests of the university from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to manage time and information in a fast paced environment
- Ability to maintain a positive, flexible, and adaptable working style
