My research focuses on how museums collect, interpret, and build programming around modern sensitive and contested histories. Specifically I am interested in how the modern conflict in Northern Ireland, commonly called the Troubles, is interpreted in museums. I have an interest in how material culture can be used as a tool to teach in traditional and non traditional classroom settings. I am currently working on turning my dissertation, “The Troubles and Beyond: Expanding the Narrative of Northern Ireland’s Recent Past Through Collecting, Interpretation, and Programming,” into articles.
