Kaitlin HornKaitlin Horn

Winner of the Richard V. Salisbury Award in Latin American History

Kaitlin Horn is from Leitchfield, Kentucky and is scheduled to graduate in Spring 2021. Kaitlin currently has ten historical bobbleheads that she has been collecting since high school that she has picked up on her vacations. Her collection includes: Alexander Hamilton, Rosie the Riveter, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, Ulysses S. Grant, George Washington, Albert Einstein, and Andrew Jackson. Kaitlin isn’t sure yet what she wants to do after college, but she thinks she would like to continue her studies in graduate school, ideally “somewhere close to a beach with lots of history and sunshine.” She has been looking at universities in Maryland and Virginia. Kaitlin decided to become a history major because history has been her passion for as long as she could remember. Growing up, she was always excited to go to history classes. Kaitlin loves all the interesting books she has read in classes she has taken in the history department. She reports she has made some good friends and finds all the professors knowledgeable and kind. Kaitlin’s favorite historical quote is from James Baldwin: “People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them.”

Congratulations Kaitlin!
