Jeffrey SilversJeffrey Silvers

Winner of the Crowe-Crocker-Carraco Award in Kentucky History

Jeffrey is from Clarksville, Tn. While in high school, Jeffrey’s passion was theater. He acted in thirty different plays and musicals and when he came to WKU, he auditioned for Cinderella Confidential and was cast as the Prince. Jeffrey was very excited, but quickly realized that the majority of what he would be expected to do was ballroom dancing and he had absolutely no experience with it and it was not for him. Instead, he turned to History, drawing on his memory of making a documentary on the American Revolution in 8th grade for the National History Day Competition. For this project he got to interview historians from the Clarksville Historical Society and their insight and passion got him interested in making history his profession. Jeffrey’s favorite thing about being a History major has been sharing ideas and debating points of view with his classmates or with his professors. Jeffrey is graduating this semester and then continue to pursue his education in graduate school. His favorite quote is from FDR: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much. It is whether we provide enough for those who have little.”

Congratulations, Jeffrey!
