Western Kentucky University’s education programs have earned full accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the only nationally recognized accreditor for educator preparation. The announcement follows WKU’s successful site visit conducted April 14–16, 2025. WKU continues to be fully accredited through December 2032.

WKU met all CAEP standards for both undergraduate and graduate programs leading to initial and advanced educator licensure. These programs span four out of five academic colleges on the Hill:

•               College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS)

•               Ogden College of Science & Engineering (OCSE)

•               Potter College of Arts & Letters (PCAL)

•               College of Health and Human Services (CHHS)

This recognition affirms the exceptional preparation WKU provides future educators across multiple disciplines. CAEP accreditation demonstrates WKU’s commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and preparing highly qualified teachers who are ready to meet the needs of today’s classrooms.

CAEP accreditation is considered the gold standard in educator preparation. Recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), CAEP conducts rigorous, evidence-based reviews to ensure programs meet national standards in content knowledge, pedagogy, clinical partnerships, candidate support, program impact, and quality assurance. Institutions earning this distinction demonstrate they are producing graduates equipped to succeed in a rapidly evolving educational landscape. Earning CAEP accreditation is a point of pride for WKU and a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff, and partner schools.
