We have an exciting end-of-year event coming up on Thursday, April 27th, 4-6pm, in DSU Nite Class (room 1037).
Visiting Folklorist Dr. Sheila Bock will be giving a talk on "Grad Cap Traditions: Performing Self, Community, and the Value of Higher Education" (at 5:00). You'll get a whole new perspective on decorated mortarboards after hearing her engaging research, based on her forthcoming book on this topic.
For anyone graduating (or just interested!), we also invite you to an event right before the talk (at 4:00), where you can bring your own grad cap to decorate. Feel free to bring meaningful materials (like special photos, small objects, or fabrics), but we'll also have plenty of fun art supplies provided. Hope to see you there!
