Liz Chagnon, a 2018 WKU graduate, will discuss her research in Frescoes, Fragments, & Frontiers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center, room 156.
Chagnon, who received her bachelor’s degree in Art History with a minor in Studio Art, has been on an incredible journey studying fragments of frescoes originally created for the early 11th century Spanish church, the Hermitage of San Baudelio de Berlanga. The frescoes were removed from the church and are now on display in museums throughout the world.
Through a FUSE grant and as a Gilman Scholar, Chagnon traveled to the Hermitage of San Baudelio itself and then sought out pieces of the fresco housed in the Prado Museum in Madrid and museums in New York, Boston, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Dallas. Her research included examining the curatorial choices that now "re-frame" these fragments. She will also talk about the interactive exhibition Re-Formed that she curated last fall for the WKU University Gallery.
Lecture is sponsored by the WKU Department of Art.
