Teaching Areas: Dance History, Dance Appreciation, Dance Anatomy and Kinesiology
Shauna Dever Jones was born and raised in Owensboro, KY where she trained extensively with Owensboro Dance Theatre and Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago. She has her Master of Fine Arts in Dance Choreography and Pedagogy from Florida State University and Laban/ Bartenieff Movement Analysis Certification from Integrated Movement Studies at the University of Utah. Shauna in collaboration with Owensboro Dance Theatre has established “The Rising Stars” program, the tri-states only dance program with the highest credentials dedicated to students with special needs and developmental disabilities. She has danced with DANCEe Birmingham, Dance Reparatory Theatre Tallahassee, on scholarship with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company Salt Lake City and on scholarship at the Giordano Dance Center in Chicago. Shauna was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine in 2013 and was selected for artistic excellence to participate in the Performing Arts Directory for the Kentucky Arts Council. She has performed in works by Gerri Houlihan, Dan Wagoner, Martha Graham, Nan Giordano, and Alwin Nikolais. Shauna’s choreography has been invited to show at Alice Loyd College, Florida State University, the Alvin Ailey Studio(NYC), DUMBO Dance Festival(NYC), the CoolNY Festival(NYC), Big Range Dance Festival(Austin), the Nashville Fringe Festival, the Louisville Ballet School and Owensboro Dance Theatre where she currently teaches.
