Job Description

The Department of Theatre & Dance at Western Kentucky University seeks a Visiting Instructor and Costume Shop Supervisor for a one semester contract, beginning January 10th, 2022, and ending May 15th, 2022.  The successful candidate will teach 2 classes: Costume Technology and Theatre Appreciation. This individual will also manage the department’s Costume Shop. Duties will include maintenance of costume shop facilities, equipment and supplies, supervision of student employees, lab students, and wardrobe crews, and hands-on patterning, cutting, draping, stitching and fitting as needed to meet production demands and schedules. The department plans to seek approval and funding for continuation of this position in future years.

Job Requirements

Master’s degree in Costume Technology, Costume Design, Theatre Design or Technology, or a related field. Costume leadership experience in a professional or academic shop (Shop management, Draper, Wardrobe Supervisor, etc.) is also required. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds and climb ladders and stairs.
