International Students & Exchange Students:
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) would like to remind you of the extended spring break until March 22. During the extended spring break (March 15 – 22) and remainder of the semester your F-1 or J-1 status will remain active as long as you attend your courses.  WKU will continue to deliver instruction via alternate delivery formats through the end of the spring semester, with no face-to-face instruction occurring the remainder of this academic term. 

International Scholars:
WKU announced plans for an extended spring break period of March 15 – March 22 and alternative delivery format to all classes for the remainder of the semester.  Please find additional information on events, travel and telecommuting on the following link: https://www.wku.edu/covid19/.

At this time, your J-1 status will remain active.  If you have any questions about your J-1 status, the ISSS team will be available to help answer these questions.

 How to protect yourself:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

 

How to protect others:
If you have cold-like symptoms, you can help protect others by doing the following:

  • Stay home while you are sick
  • Avoid close contact with others
  • Cover your mouth & nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash & wash your hands
  • Clean & disinfect objects & surfaces

Please make sure that you call ahead before visiting a doctor. Non-sponsored students  have virtual treatment options through your insurance provider available to you that are outlined HERE.

You may return home and complete your coursework online. Your immigration status will remain active.  You can travel without a signed I20 and we can mail you a copy once you return home.


You must place a Travel Request in iStart HERE before leaving the United States.

Courses are not being canceled, you will be able to finish online and continue your degree progress.  We will not be issuing tuition refunds.

At WKU),we recognize unforeseen financial challenges may arise throughout a student’s degree program.  Through the generosity of a WKU international alumnuse, Zuheir Sofia, ISSS has the ability to offer emergency tuition assistance to students in need for up to one semester.  In order to assess the student’s financial need, he/she should answer all of the following questions and email isss@wku.edu with the responses.
