Living Learning Community (LLC) Faculty Fellows
LLC Faculty Fellow Purpose and Position
The LLC Faculty Fellow provides an opportunity for professional development and institutional service that directly impacts student persistence, retention, and graduation. With the support of their college as well as the Housing & Residence Life and CITL staff, the LLC Faculty Fellows will create an environment in which students feel connected to students inside and outside their LLC as well as the broader WKU Community.
The LLC Faculty Fellow will deepen students’ intellectual engagement and personal development by delivering academic extracurricular activities designed to foster community building and student learning. The LLC Faculty Fellow position is a year-to-year appointment with an annual review.
What is a WKU Living Learning Community
Although there will be some administrative duties associated with this position, the focus of this role will be on the facilitation of community- and relationship-building.
- LLC Administration
- Maintain consistent communication with HRL about the LLC
- Help identify and on-board successor
- Determine LLC mission/purpose
- Approve LLC participants
- Help assess LLC effectiveness
- Communication & Relationship Building
- Provide welcome letter
- Participate in residence hall move-in and/or M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan
- Maintain regular contact with LLC participants
- Host regular contact with LLC participants
- Host regular weekly office hours in the residence hall
- Deliver and participate in LLC-related activities and events
- HRL & CITL staff will assist in the set-up and recruitment of LLC participants
- HRL & CITL staff offer on-going logistical support for LLC-related event planning and coordination
- HRL & CITL staff will provide templates for all forms and documentation
- HRL will provide funding for LLC-related programming
- Dining Dollars will be provided for meals with students

- Goal 1: Smooth Academic Transition-- First year students who participate in an LLC will experience a smooth academic transition to WKU.
- Objective 1.a By the end of the academic year, each student will have earned a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0.
- Objective 1.b As part of their organized LLC programming each academic term, students will engage
the services of at least one WKU academic resource (in addition to standard academic
advising).
- Goal 2: Smooth Social Transition-- First year students who participate in a LLC will experience a smooth social transition to WKU.
- Objective 2.a By the end of the first academic term, students will participate in at least two LLC-related activities, with the intention of creating opportunities to connect with a peer group.
- Objective 2.b At least once per academic term, students will participate in a campus or LLC activity that will lead to an exposure to differing cultures and/or systems of belief.
- Objective 2.c Students will be exposed to strategies intended to enhance their ability to balance
academic and life demands at least twice during the academic year, the first of which
should take place during the first five weeks.
- Goal 3: Sense of Belonging-- First year students who participate in an LLC will develop a sense of belonging at WKU.
- Objective 3.a By the end of the program, students will identify at least one WKU-affiliated individual with whom they’ve established a relationship.
- Objective 3.b By the end of the program, students will identify at least one academic unit or extracurricular/social group to which they belong.
