Facilitated by Patrick Ledwidge

The first week of the semester sets the tone for your entire course. Yet we often spend the first day reviewing the syllabus instead of getting students excited about learning. In this hands-on two-hour workshop, participants will learn how to design a syllabus that minimizes the need for a traditional Syllabus Day and creates an engaging first week that promotes student satisfaction and learning throughout the semester. Together, we'll develop and improve first-week learning modules that illustrate your course expectations while fostering student engagement, motivation, and a sense of belonging from the very beginning. Participants will leave with practical strategies and ready-to-use ideas for redesigning both their syllabus and first-week course plans. Bring a syllabus for a course you're teaching this semester so you can start creating during the workshop!

Please note that this event is offered in an in-person format only.
