Five WKU students received Fulbright awards for academic year 2017-18, placing WKU in a tie for fourth place among master’s institutions nationally. WKU is the only Kentucky institution to make the list, published in the Chronicle of Higher Education.

WKU has taken a leap forward in its diversity and inclusion efforts, receiving a prestigious award from Diversity Abroad. WKU has been named the Diversity & Inclusion Champion in the 2018 Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion in International Education.

Keeley Rather, a third-year Asian religions and cultures major from Owensboro, was awarded a Freeman-ASIA scholarship of up to $5,000 to study in Japan during the spring 2018 semester.

Isaac Barnes of Frankfort, Anais Compton of Bowling Green and Jada Jefferson of Louisville were selected as Gilman Scholars and will receive up to $8,000 to fund their study abroad programs during the spring 2018 semester.

WKU alumna Emma Shoaf will use a $40,000 Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in development studies at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex.

The Office of Scholar Development at WKU has awarded 16 WKU students more than $23,000 in Lifetime Experience Grants during the 2016-17 academic year. The awards are designed to increase competitiveness for national scholarships.

Ellen Linder of Louisville and Brandon Pruitt of Bowling Green are members of the Chinese Flagship Program and will complete their Capstone Year in China. Hannah Chaney of Louisville will study in CET’s Intensive Language Summer Program in Jordan.
